IntroductionHello, and welcome! My name is Mr. Swartz, and I am thrilled to be starting my 8th year as a teacher. For the past seven years, I have had the privilege of teaching at Melrose Area Public Schools, and I’m very excited to continue working with students at Alexandria High School. I hold a Master's Degree in Technology Education, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology, with a focus on Construction Management. My background in education is supported by a unique mix of practical experience. Before becoming a teacher, I served as an Airborne Infantryman (paratrooper) with the 82nd Airborne Division for five years, where I learned discipline, leadership, and resilience. Prior to my military service, I worked with E-tech Inc. in a variety of roles, including Installation Manager, Coordinator, Lead Installer, and Welder. These experiences in both the military and industry have shaped my approach to teaching and my passion for hands-on, real-world learning. Outside of the classroom, I’m an avid outdoors enthusiast. Whether I’m bow hunting, fishing, paddle boarding, biking, riding my motorcycle, or exploring the Boundary Waters, I enjoy staying active and embracing new challenges. I’m also a dedicated "CrossFitter", which helps me stay physically and mentally sharp. My goal as an educator is to not only impart knowledge but to inspire my students to develop the skills they need to thrive in life. I believe in creating a positive, engaging, and hands-on learning environment where students feel empowered to explore, learn, and grow. I look forward to partnering with you and your child this year to ensure they have a rewarding and successful experience. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever have any questions or concerns. Here’s to a great year ahead! Sincerely, Mike Swartz |
