This is an example of uneven wear.  The top of the bore appears to have a proper cross hatch pattern.  However, just below the cross hatch has improper wear.

This is cylinder has large deposits at the top of the bore.  This is a common occurrence in engines.  This ridge must be removed by a ridge reamer before the piston can be removed.
